“What divides us pales in comparison to what unites us.” – Edward Kennedy

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a core component of the values at Brightmark that act as a guiding principle for how we choose to acknowledge, protect, and celebrate diversity.

June is Pride Month, and Brightmark is excited to continue celebrating and commemorating the LGBTQIA+ community and the strides made toward progress and equality. Allying with underrepresented communities (whether the LGBTQIA+ community or others) is imperative to create a more equitable and inclusive world.

While there are various ways to celebrate DEI, there are specific ways that, together, we can all be strong allies.

Show Your Support

Actions speak louder than words. Showing your support for unrepresented communities is vital. Whether donating, volunteering, or advocating for a cause, each action is essential and makes a significant difference.

Be an Advocate

Representation matters. Advocate for equity and inclusion for all. Beautiful things can happen when every voice is given a chance to be heard.

Brighten Someone’s Day

Acts of kindness, big or small, matter. Nothing is ever lost by being kind. An act of kindness can have tremendous impacts and go further than one may realize, and it costs nothing.

Remain Accountable

Making a change means staying committed to the cause—even when challenging. Real change takes time and isn’t always easy.

Press for Progress

Remember that change is what drives progress. It is best to look ahead—it’s where the future is.

Being an ally can look like many things. What’s important is showing up for those who need it. Let’s ally for a brighter future for everyone.

With bright strides,
Bob Powell
